Dr. Nelson Tuazon is the Vice President and Associate Chief Nursing Officer at University Health, San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Tuazon has a successful record in nursing practice, academia, and executive leadership.

His involvement in professional associations, advisory boards, and chambers of commerce has influenced nursing practice, education and regulations, public policy, and workforce development. He was the assistant dean of the College of Nursing at Angeles University, Philippines, and president of the NJ Board of Nursing. He has also served as a Magnet Appraiser/Team Leader for the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He is a Board Member of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE) and a member of the Board of Trustees of Columbia Southern University. In recognition of his significant contributions to improving healthcare, promoting the welfare of nurses and nursing students, and advancing the nursing profession, Dr. Tuazon received the Luther Christman Award from the ANA in 2024. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2020. 

Dr. Tuazon received a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master of arts of education from the Angeles University Foundation, Philippines; a master of science in nursing from Seton Hall University; a master of business administration from Monmouth University; doctor of business administration from Northcentral University, and a doctor of nursing practice from Grand Canyon University.
