Kelly Guzman is the entrepreneurial Hispanic Nurse and the founder and CEO at Yellow Brick Consulting, Inc., a firm changing how new health care facility environments are activated.

With more than 35 years of progressive leadership experience in Acute Care, Ambulatory, and Interventional Nursing, including clinical, administrative, and consulting roles, Ms. Guzman is focused on amplifying the nurse’s role in health care design. She is passionate about mentoring future nurse leaders, focusing on reaching out to the minority and underrepresented nurse leader sectors that she herself had to navigate.

 

Ms. Guzman has led a progressive career in leadership both in acute and ambulatory health care settings as a clinician, administrator, and consultant. Her reputation has been driven by her proven success in leadership, team building, education and training, leading through influence, communication, and project management.

 

Founded in 2018, Yellow Brick is a certified minority and woman-owned health care consulting firm specializing in new facility workflow and operations planning, project management, orientation and training, licensing and regulatory preparedness, and activation planning services. Ms. Guzman and her team collaborate with health care executives to plan for new facility activation and coordinate the movement of patients into their new environments. Yellow Brick’s mission is to deliver unparalleled project management expertise to the health care industry. This mission is achieved by recognizing the power of relationship management with health care clients and fellow industry partners.

Ms. Guzman has served as the Project Executive for over 120 health care projects across North America and worked with her team to establish industry best practices and share lessons learned. Knowledge sharing is one of her core values. Ms. Guzman has mentored and paved the path for over 60 nurses and others in careers in Transition Planning. Three of these nurses have become entrepreneurs and opened their own businesses. Nine of these staff are in executive and leadership positions in large academic medical centers and consulting agencies.

Over the years, she has held true to this by speaking at industry conferences, publishing journal articles, hosting a podcast, and, most notably, publishing two books in 2020 and 2021.Outside of work Ms. Guzman enjoys gardening, volunteering in her community, rooting for the UCLA Bruins, and watching hockey (Go Kings! Go!). Ms. Guzman exemplifies the high-level quality and colorful spirit that is inspiring a new generation of nurses to envision a path beyond the bedside.
