Suha Ballout

Suha Ballout is an Associate Professor at the Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the UMass Boston Center for Innovative Teaching (CIT) co-director. Renowned for bridging higher education and community engagement on local and global scales, Dr. Ballout has authored over 12 peer-reviewed articles and delivered presentations at 10 international and 19 national forums. She has secured grants totaling $900,000, reflecting her impact on the field. Recognized for fostering inclusive learning environments, Dr. Ballout has received prestigious awards such as the Daisy Award for Excellence in Nursing Education, the American Nurses Association Massachusetts Excellence in Nursing Education Award, and the Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Teaching. Her leadership extends to a $20-million workforce diversity grant, supporting 400 students in overcoming systemic barriers and achieving nursing school graduation and successful employment. As a co-leader of the Behavioral Health Equity Fellowship and PI for a Massachusetts Department of Higher Education grant, Dr. Ballout conducts landscape assessments for behavioral health professions. She is the past president of the Lebanese Medical Association for Sexual Health (LeMASH) and has advanced LGBTQ+ health initiatives globally. Dr. Ballout was accepted to the 2024 cohort of the NLN/Walden Leadership Academy. Dr. Ballout holds a BSN and MSN from the American University of Beirut, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell, and a PhD from Florida International University.
